The introduction of the Real Estate Scheme (RES), introduced at the beginning of December 2007, further enabled the sale of residences to non-citiziens.
Island Regulatory and Secretarial (IRS) Management Services Ltd, a locally incorporated domestic Mauritian company was established to provide various domestic company services including but not limited to onshore structuring and administration, expatriate support and residency. It also offers property holding vehicles with a view to optimise the benefits associated with owning an IRS and RES property, and provides ongoing administrative services focused on relieving IRS and RES owners from the local administrative requirements such as paying bills, tax returns and other mandatory local requirements.
