Due to the fact that Mauritius forms part of South African Development Community (SADC), it is possible for South African buyers to purchase an IRS property, using the South African Reserve Bank property allowance dispensation ie. money in excess of their R2m; up to the value of the property.

When using one’s property allowance, the purchaser is obligated to purchase the property in their own name. In order to effect this purchase, the buyer needs to obtain both tax and South African Reserve Bank clearance to do so.
